Let's go shopping!

So after doing some research and getting a few recipes together for the next couple weeks I've made a pretty enormous shopping list. I'm really gonna go all out on this and make my own condiments and sauces and everything! I mean can you really compare a jar of pasta sauce that has 500mg of sodium per serving next to a home made sauce that has 58mg? It's not even a question!
It will also save some money (which is always a plus!) Sure it will take some more time, but I plan on making these in large batches, separating them in Ball glass jars, and freezing all but one.

Though the list looks massive, there are a lot of things on it that I won't have to buy again for a long time. I'm pretty much stocking my herb and spice cabinet, as well as getting a ton of fresh produce.  I honestly felt like someone from the 1800s buying items like corn meal, oat bran, and molasses! But I have to say I am really excited about trying all these new recipes. I've always wanted to be one of those June Clever stay at home moms that make everything from scratch but I've never really had a reason to until now!

Don't mind all of the snacks for my kids... but we actually found a decent amount of cereal and instant oatmeal that had a low amount of sodium in them. "Mom's Best Naturals" is a pretty good brand across the board of breakfast that are pretty low sodium. I found some low sodium varieties of soup, but honestly, even the low sodium soups had a ridiculous amount of sodium in them! I could buy a "low sodium" Progresso minestrone soup that had 470mg per serving (with 2 servings per can!) or make my own that has 68mg per serving. That makes me scared to know how much sodium is in a regular can of soup! I know all of these comparisons might sound redundant but I am honestly still in shock about how much sodium is in prepackaged foods that are considered "healthy." Americans wonder why they are so overweight! I consider myself a health conscious person and honestly, I never even thought to look at the sodium count. Just another eye opener! Recipes are on the way [=
